There are four main types of transition joints
Sep 05, 2025
Although they are all transition joints, there are significant differences between the machine heads designed and manufactured by different manufacturers, as well as between joints designed for different applications. Consequently, there are many different types and sizes of joints currently available on the market. Looking at the types of joints, there are four main types of connection methods.
1. Straight-through Transition Joint
This joint is straight, similar to a pipe. When connecting, the ends align, leaving the pipe straight.
2. Angle-Bend Transition Joint
This joint has a roughly 90-degree bend, with the pipes connected at either end. Therefore, after the connection, the entire pipe is not straight, but rather has a bend.
3. Three-Way Transition Joint
This joint has three ports, allowing it to connect to three different ends. Once connected, the pipes are distributed along three different ends.
4. Four-Way Transition Joint
This joint has four ports, requiring four ends to connect. The connected pipes are distributed along all four ends.
Transition joints primarily come in four different connection types. The specific connection method you choose depends on your specific needs and the specific system requirements. Choosing the right connection method ensures the joint is suitable for your application and meets your functional requirements.
