What is the function of a hydraulic transition joint?
Nov 05, 2025
In hydraulic joints, the hose connector is the joint clamped between the two ends of the hydraulic hose. The connection between the hose connector and the component port usually requires a transition joint. The hydraulic transition joint plays a role in the transition process between the rigid joint and the port component or directly as part of the rigid pipe joint. What is the function of a hydraulic transition joint?
Because the contact surface between two different metals is easily oxidized, when two metals are joined together, the contact surface will quickly oxidize, increasing the contact resistance, leading to a vicious cycle. This is followed by increased resistance due to heating and contact, potentially causing the machine to burn. Using a hydraulic transition joint can avoid this phenomenon.
(1) Pre-installation
(2) Do not add sealant or other fillers. Applying sealant to the ferrule to achieve a better seal results in the American standard threaded transition joint sealant being flushed into the hydraulic system, causing malfunctions such as blockage of hydraulic components.
(3) When connecting pipes, the pipes should have sufficient deformation allowance to avoid tension on the pipes.
(4) When connecting pipes, avoid lateral forces. Excessive lateral force will prevent a loose seal.
(5) When connecting pipes, it should be done once to avoid repeated disassembly; otherwise, the sealing performance will decrease.
The materials of the compression fitting precision seamless steel pipe are mainly carbon steel and plastic. The upper cover and lower bottom are made of carbon steel, and the middle pipe is made of plastic. The internal plastic is not ordinary plastic; it is highly polymerized. It is made by sheet metal, stamping, and other processes. Its surface treatment method is galvanizing, but it can also be treated according to the specific environment and customer requirements to effectively prevent surface oxidation and necrosis of the plastic part of the pipe clamp. It consists of three parts: upper and lower plates, pipe clamps, and screws and nuts.
